AKD Honor Society
The SIUE Chapter Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Sociology Honor Society, was chartered in 2017. The purpose of the society is to promote an interest in the study of sociology, research of social problems, and such other social and intellectual activities as will lead to improvement in the human condition.
Membership in AKD is a powerful way to demonstrate to employers your passion for learning and dedication to hard work. Further, through membership students can gain mentors and apply for grants and other opportunities. Membership fees are affordable and last a lifetime.
How to Join AKD
Typically, Dr. Florence Maätita, the AKD faculty representative, will contact undergraduate and graduate students who are eligible for membership. Some students will review the requirements below and submit their application on their own. Regardless of how you find out about AKD, all applications are due 15 October (fall) and 15 March (spring) to ensure approval in time for graduation. Please submit your application and membership fee to Dr. Maätita, Peck Hall 1220, [email protected].
