Communications Specialist and class clown of the Department, Melissa KB Katich, ’07, comes to us from years of live entertainment production. She is responsible for an insurmountable amount of office sarcasm and is frequently confused with the likeness and personality of a Springer Spaniel.
Melissa writes the daily SIUE faculty and staff newsletter “The E Today,” and publishes news stories and press releases for the University. She assists with media relations, digital signage and digital communications to the campus community. Melissa stays active in the SIUE landscape; she’s a member of the Meridian Society, the Hispanic/Latinx Faculty and Staff Association and a donor to the Mimi Zanger Memorial Award Endowment.
Her interests include attending concerts, writing prose, hiking in National Parks and feverishly organizing happy hours. She is generally a good choice for sharing a cafeteria table or providing companionship during an assembly. She thought jackalopes were real for a suspiciously long part of her life.
Her attitude is survived by her husband, Michael, and an enormous house rabbit named Tuppence. Melissa is a proud second-generation alumna.
